Fillers are a great minimally-invasive way to maintain a youthful look and are often a preferable alternative to a facelift or other more invasive procedure. Fillers are used to correct and soften facial wrinkles, etched-in lines, and folds, and to restore lost volume by providing an overall lift.
Fillers usually last from six months to more than a year. There are a variety of fillers for different aesthetic goals and areas of the body. Most of the fillers offered are made from hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in our bodies. Another filler option is made from calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a firmer substance that provides structure and lift. Additionally, poly-L-lactic acid, a biostimulator that induces collagen production, can be used to restore lost volume for an overall lift and rejuvenation. Our providers are experts in these cosmetic treatments and will be able to suggest which options will help you attain your aesthetic goals.
This hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is created using the Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) which makes it the softest and most flexible filler we offer. Its claim to fame is that it completely integrates into the skin. While some fillers function to create volume and lift, this filler is the perfect option for spot treating fine lines. BELOTERO BALANCE® specifically treats etched-in lines and wrinkles such as vertical lip lines and laugh lines.
JUVÉDERM & Restylane®: Clear Dermatology and Aesthetics Center is proud to offer several of the fillers from the JUVÉDERM and Restylane® lines including: JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Lyft, Restylane® Refyne, Restylane® Defyne
These fillers are designed to slow and mask the signs of aging. The hyaluronic acid that compose these fillers is formulated to mimic your body’s naturally produced hyaluronic acid to correct and soften facial wrinkles and folds. The most common areas these fillers are injected include the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lips. These fillers provide immediate results with little to no downtime. Results last 6-12 months.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is another hyaluronic acid filler from the JUVÉDERM® line that is specifically designed to restore volume in the cheek area and provide lift. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is a sturdier filler, so it is ideal for providing structure and can last up to two years.
RADIESSE® (+) is a filler composed of calcium hydroxyapatite which is ideal for providing structure, lifting, and restoring lost volume. RADIESSE® (+) is most commonly used in the cheeks, jawline, and hands. RADIESSE® (+) is a firmer filler, so it can last up to 18 months.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable biostimulator that restores and replaces lost volume due to aging. The active ingredient in the product is poly-L-lactic acid, which is synthetic, biocompatible, and biodegradable, which means it does not harm the body and can be broken down by the body. Poly-L-lactic acid stimulates your body’s own collagen production where it is injected to create a smoother, fuller look that masks the signs of aging. Because the results from Sculptra® Aesthetic are dependent on your body’s natural processes, the results take up to six months to be appreciated, but they last up to 2 years. Multiple treatments may be desired, and maintenance treatments every year or two are often ideal for maintaining results.
What to Expect During a Filler Appointment
During your filler appointment baseline photographs will be taken and topical numbing cream applied. We will also provide you with ice to maximize numbing and minimize bruising. As the numbing takes effect, you will receive a complimentary cosmetic consultation with Dr. LaTowsky. During this consultation, you will be able to ask questions, discuss budget, and determine your aesthetic and cosmetic goals. After the consultation, the area to be injected will be cleaned and prepped for procedure, then Dr. LaTowsky will inject.
What to Expect After a Filler Appointment
Immediately after injections, the area will likely be red and swollen. The redness and swelling will subside within the next one to three days. There is a chance of bruising. The results from the fillers will be observable immediately, and will last approximately one year depending on the filler used.
Post-treatment recommendations include:
- Avoiding strenuous exercising including weightlifting for 24 hours
- Minimizing alcohol intake and the use of blood thinners
- Applying an ice pack to the area for the first several hours following injection to minimize pain and bruising
