Sofwave

What is Sofwave?

Sofwave is a next-generation facial treatment that can tighten skin without surgery. Using SUPERB™ Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam technology, it can stimulate the production of healthy new collagen to improve skin quality and thickness. It’s a completely non-surgical way to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in all skin types, making it one of the best options available in anti-aging technologies.

How Does Sofwave Work?

Sofwave is specifically designed to treat the mid-dermis (the middle layer of the skin) at 1.5mm, the ideal depth for treating wrinkles. Sofwave generates targeted heat at this exact depth with ultrasound technology, generating a healing response in the skin. These thermal treatment zones respond by creating and regenerating collagen and elastin, improving the skin from the inside out.

Sofwave is completely non-surgical and requires no incisions or needles. In fact, Sofwave’s integrated cooling mechanism, Sofcool™, protects the surface of the skin from damage during treatment. This ensures a comfortable, tolerable treatment process.

How is Sofwave Better Than Other Existing Technologies?

There are a variety of options for boosting collagen growth in the skin, but Sofwave remains one of the best and most in-demand options available. Options like lasers can be aggressive and require considerable downtime as the skin recovers. They’re not always available for all skin types, either. Other technologies like RF microneedling can be uncomfortable, along with requiring significant downtime. Although other treatments exist that claim similar results, they can require multiple treatments for minimal results.

Sofwave produces noticeable results without any restrictions or downtime, making it a treatment of choice for many patients.

What Can I Expect From Sofwave?

During a consultation with our providers, you will discuss your skincare goals and learn more about the aesthetic options available here at Clear Dermatology. Sofwave typically does not require any topical numbing. The handpiece is applied to the skin where it delivers ultrasound energy and creates thermal treatment zones. This process may generate warmth but it’s not uncomfortable. Afterward, you can return to your daily activities.

You may experience some slight redness and swelling after treatment, but this typically subsides within a few hours. You can resume your daily skincare regimen right away, and there are no restrictions on activities. We recommend wearing sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily.

Most patients see significant improvement with a single treatment, but it may take up to 12 weeks for the skin to regenerate collagen. Depending on your goals, you may be advised to do a second treatment 3 months after your first treatment. For best results, we recommend yearly maintenance treatments to continue the collagen-boosting process.

Typically, the treatment protocol calls for 1-2 treatments, depending on the patient’s skin condition.

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you may feel warmness of the skin. Treatment is comfortable simply by applying a topical anesthetic cream just prior to the treatment. Following the treatment, there are no sensations and there is no need to apply special care on the skin. Daily care can be resumed immediately post treatment.

The collagen regeneration process can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, so patients are expected to see ongoing improvements in the 3-month period after their treatment.
In Sofwave™’s clinical trials, results have been shown in as little as, post one treatment.

Sofwave™ is a non-invasive treatment for skin tightening. Clinical trials have shown the technology to be effective and safe.
Immediately post treatment, the skin may appear slightly red with limited swelling for up to a few hours post treatment.
