Pamela Mundell, MD

Board-Certified Dermatologist

Dr. Mundell is originally from Pennsylvania and enjoyed the nomadic childhood of a Navy brat. She finished high school in a northern Chicago suburb. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Saint Olaf College in southern Minnesota and went on to serve in the US Air Force during her medical training. She received her M.D. from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD, graduating amongst the top in her class. During this time she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society. From there, Dr. Mundell completed a transitional internship, followed by Aerospace Medicine training. She served as a flight surgeon in Grand Forks, ND. She was the lead medical officer for a KC-135 tanker unit and deployed to the Middle East, earning 68 combat flying hours.

Dr. Mundell then completed her dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, where she served as chief resident in her final year. She practiced at Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center in Las Vegas for 3 years, and created a small outreach clinic in Mammoth Lakes, California, before being called back to San Antonio as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology.

After completing her service in the Air Force, Dr. Mundell joined a busy medical dermatology practice in Duluth, MN, where she loved providing comprehensive medical dermatology care to the community. Her clinical interests include the detection and treatment of skin cancer, as well as managing chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis, lichen planus, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa and acne. Dr. Mundell strongly believes in treating the whole person, and always strives to understand her patients’ priorities and values. She makes it a point to educate her patients about their treatment options and invites patients to participate fully in their healthcare decisions.

Recently her husband, a resident physician at the Mayo Clinic, pursued an opportunity to transfer to The Mayo Clinic Arizona. Dr. Mundell treasures time with her husband and their four busy children. They love all things outdoors, and can be found trail running, road and mountain biking, camping, canoeing, swimming, and cross-country skiing. They are very excited for all the outdoor activities the Valley of the Sun has to offer–sun protected, of course!
